STUDIO DIVISION

(2nd-6th Graders, Ages 8-13)

Classes Start Week of Aug. 9th 2021

Georgia Dance Conservatory’s Studio Division allows recreational dance students to progress through the levels of each dance style while fostering the development of confidence, poise, discipline, and positive self-expression. Each discipline has a specific focus, from alignment, strength, and flexibility to memorization, coordination, and performance. All Studio classes perform in GDC’s annual Recital.

Ballet

Georgia Dance Conservatory’s Studio Ballet classes provide dancers with a foundational education of the Vaganova method of ballet technique while instilling a deep sense of self discipline. Warm up exercises at the ballet barre focus on proper alignment of the spine, external rotation (turnout), and strength of the legs, feet, and core. Center combinations including allegro (jumps) and across the floor exercises develop  higher levels of coordination and movement through space. Emphasis is placed on proper execution of technique in order to provide a thorough understanding of ballet as a classical artform and to ensure the safety of the dancer.
