Mrs. Schmaltz early training took place in Baton Rouge, LA at The Dancers’ Workshop, home of the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, where she performed under the direction of Molly Buchmann and Sharon Mathews. She studied at the Joffery Ballet, Boston Ballet and Charleston Ballet summer intensives. Mrs. Schmaltz graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Ballet Performance from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. During that time, she performed at the American College Dance Festival in Washington D.C. Before moving to Atlanta, Anna continued her training at Houston Ballet while teaching dance in Houston, TX. Mrs. Schmaltz has danced with the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, The Pittsburgh Playhouse Theater, and Nashville Ballet. She has also performed at The Kennedy Center, National Regional Dance Festival as well as Southwestern Regional Dance Festival, and in David Parson’s “Rainforest.” Her favorite roles include Dark Angel from Balanchine’s “Serenade,” Cinderella from both Sharon Mathews’ and Doug Bentz’s versions of “Cinderella,” the Arabian and Snow Soloist from “The Nutcracker,” and Lead Hollow in Alan Hineline’s “Sleepy Hollow.” Mrs. Anna resides in Acworth, GA with her husband and 2 children, and she is excited and proud to be on staff at Georgia Dance Conservatory.
