Mission Statement

Georgia Dance Conservatory exists to encourage and foster the development of confidence, poise, discipline, and positive self-expression in its students through movement and dance.

History

Georgia Dance Conservatory (formerly Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre) was founded in 1956 by the late Ruth Mitchell, an Atlanta dance pioneer. Ms. Ruth set the standard for dance training in Atlanta with the best instruction, exemplary performances, and the highest standard of technique. Later, Ruth Mitchell moved the studio to downtown Marietta on the Marietta Square, and in 1999 sold the studio to current owners Lisa and Billy Toups. They have continued the highest standard of instruction set by Ms. Ruth over 60 years ago.

Faculty

Georgia Dance Conservatory offers proper and traditional dance instruction taught by exceptionally qualified teachers. As the foundation of all dance, Classical Ballet is our primary emphasis. We also offer classes in Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, My Tiny Tot & Me, and Tap, as well as Adult Ballet, Barre, and BUTI Yoga classes.
